Structure

Waikato HospitalWaikato DHB is one of 20 district health boards (DHBs) in New Zealand.

It is responsible for planning, funding and delivering health services to the people living within its district boundaries, and for tertiary services for a wider regional population.

It works in a collaborative way with its neighbouring DHBs as part of a "Midland Region" group.


Vision

Waikato DHB’s vision is to improve the health, independence and quality of life for the communities it serves by addressing the needs of the population and reducing health disparities


People

Waikato DHB has more than 6000 staff including people from Europe, Southern Africa, North America, Middle East, India, Pakistan, Japan, China, Southeast Asia and Pacific Islands as well as “Kiwis” (New Zealanders). 


Facilities

One major tertiary teaching hospital (Waikato Hospital) in Hamilton city, plus four rural hospitals, two primary birthing and continuing care facilities, a mental health facility, and many community health bases.
