About training and education

Please contact us if you have suggestions/corrections/additions that will make this section more useful.

The pages in this section are based on a resource pack initially prepared by sector representatives working with Waikato DHB's care and support workforce project.

Training and education is a vital part of developing the aged care sector workforce to:

  • be competent in required skills and knowledge
  • be safe in their practice
  • be able to follow career and professional development pathways
  • meet national and contract standards
  • develop a knowledgeable and flexible workforce to meet the changes and challenges of the future.
