Education sessions regarding:

person centred care
communicating with someone living with dementia
a palliative care approach
divisional therapy activities and dementia
care giver stress
nutrition and dementia
behaviours that challenge
ethics and dementia
different types of dementia

Policy, protocol and care pathway development with regard to dementia.

Advice about the physical layout and colour schemes for care facilities and hospitals with regard to people living with dementia.

Advocacy and promotion of community awareness of dementia.

A quarterly newsletter to share ideas, research and best practice.

Advice on appropriate referral agencies/routes for people with a complicated presentation.

What area does this role cover?

Bay of Plenty, Lakes, Taranaki, Tairawhiti and Waikato areas.

Who can access the service?

Anyone who has a professional or carer interest in dementia and behaviours that challenge.
