Professional Development Unit (PDU)

The Nursing and Midwifery Professional Development Unit (PDU) brings together a number of specific portfolios including research, nurse education, Nursing Entry to Practice (NETP), Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP), Quality Leadership Programme, and Nursing and Midwifery Round Table.

These portfolios work closely together to deliver a series of professional development opportunities that meet both personal and organisational needs.

The Professional Development Unit team is committed to providing approaches at an individual, unit and organisational level to:

  • develop the capacity, capability and readiness of the nursing and midwifery workforce
  • enable nurses and midwives to progress their professional development
  • help nurse/midwifery educators, charge nurse/midwife managers and nurse/midwifery managers provide a sense of direction and improved patient outcomes in their units.
