Departments
IS Portfolio Management
The Information Services Portfolio Management Office is responsible for
managing projects designed to improve key services and infrastructure at
Waikato DHB.
The office is currently managing more than 30 projects and is
responsible for day-to-day project management and the successful
completion of IS projects.
IS also has an Architecture Team, and a planning function within the office.
Service delivery and support
The Service Delivery and Support teams are responsible for providing
operational support for the applications and IT infrastructure required
to run Waikato DHB’s clinical, business and desktop systems.
IS is responsible for receiving, logging, tracking and managing all IS
related queries, incidents and service requests, and running the system
change and release management processes.
Applications and data
Information Services provide support, maintenance and reporting for
clinical and corporate applications used within Waikato DHB. These range
from mission critical, multi-user applications to small applications
with only one or two users.
A small team undertakes data management, warehousing and report creation.
Tools we use:
- Project Server
Project Service enables the Project Management Office to keep track of project progress in real time.
- VMWare Service Manager - Helpdesk System
The Service Manager toolset captures IT issues and service requests (incidents) so staff can manage, track and report.
- Waikato Way
The Waikato Way is a project management methodology customised
especially for the Waikato DHB environment.
It is derived from Prince2 -
a global project management standard.
- System Centre Configuration Manager
A Microsoft product that allows IS to efficiently and effectively manage large groups of Windows computers.
- Clinical Records
The Clinical Records Department provides a 24/7, 365 days a year
service to Waikato Hospital.
The department provides more than 24,000
records a month.
The department processes requests for information from
other hospitals, GPs or patients under the provisions of the Health
Information Privacy Code.
- Knowledge Services
Knowledge services is crucial in the provision of access to, and
management of organisational data, information and knowledge and
comprises the Corporate Records, Medical Library and IS training teams
- Voice Communications
Waikato DHB has 550 fixed line connections for community bases,
school dental services and PaBXs in some of the rural and community
sites and 3200 extensions at four Hamilton locations, more than 2000
cell phone users, 800 internal pages and 65 telepagers.
Telephonists
handle in excess of 5500 calls per day.
