Matt Todd

Matt ToddMatt Todd’s appointment to the board started in July 2010.

Mr Todd is chief executive of Eastland Group Limited a diversified portfolio of businesses within the energy, logistics, aviation and commercial property sectors.

On his appointment in 2003, the shareholder’s mandate was to create a shared services company to firstly better manage the electricity network and the recently acquired seaport and secondly to grow the business to create value for the shareholder, Eastland Community Trust.

During the intervening period assets under Eastland Group ownership grew from $80 million to $300 million.

Mr Todd has more than 20 years experience in the utilities and infrastructure sector including a number of senior roles with major players.  He has worked in New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom, Southeast Asia, South America and the Pacific Islands; held a number of industry positions and chaired working groups etc. He holds tertiary qualifications in electrical engineering, post graduate qualifications from University of Auckland in engineering management, a MBA from the University of Otago, and is a graduate of Harvard Business School Advanced Management Programme.

Mr Todd grew up on a pastoral and dairy farm south of Nelson and lives in Gisborne with his partner and her two girls. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, tennis, mountain biking, motorcycles, cars, flying and trying to keep fit.
