Workforce Planning and Development

Workforce Planning iconWhat sort of health workforce will Waikato need in five or 10 years’ time?

How can we make sure the right number of people with the right skills will be working in the right places?

The aim of workforce planning is to get on the front foot – identify trends and future needs for the health workforce, and respond in a way that meets challenges and positively shapes the future.

Waikato DHB board approved two major workforce plans during 2009.
A Workforce Development Programme team is actively working on projects that support the key objectives of these plans. The programme will fit with national and regional workforce planning strategies, but will focus on local initiatives needed to deliver local solutions to local issues.
