Mental Health and Addictions Service
Looking to broaden your career? Or wanting to specialise? We have something for you.

If you want challenges at work, but a relaxing place to live and play in - we’ve got the best of both worlds.

The size of our service means we have a wide range of roles, from specialisation in older persons or perinatal mental health services, adult inpatient to the forensic wards, to rural services that work closely with their local communities. And everything in-between.

Whether you want to broaden your career, or become more specialised, or share your experience with us, or just have a change of lifestyle and location, check out what we have on offer.

Our Mental Health and Addictions Service is the largest provider of mental health and addictions services in the Waikato and in the wider Midland region of New Zealand.

The Waikato is one of New Zealand's most relaxing regions. Its location in the centre of New Zealand's North Island puts you in easy reach of - well, everything you want.

Hamilton city has the best of modern urban life, with restaurants, bars, theatres, art, sports events and academic facilities. It's only 1.5 hours by car to Auckland, New Zealand's largest city, or 1 hour by plane to Wellington.

On the other hand, we've got recreation and relaxation on our doorstep - a lake right across the road from Waikato Hospital, a river winding through the Waikato region, beautiful beaches close at hand, skiing or mountain walks for the weekend, cafes, farmers markets and character rural villages.

Jeff BennettHi there, I am Jeff Bennett, the Group manager for Mental Health and Addictions Service.

Working in mental health is often challenging and demanding, but the rewards are immense.

We are driven by our aim – “supporting people to work towards their own recovery”- and doing this in a collaborative and informed way.

This means we place importance on relationships and on research. It means sharing ideas, skills and experience with each other, our communities and other service providers.

I am leading out a new change and performance programme that will gear us to deliver even better client-focused services in the future.

It's an exciting time, and your experience and skills would be welcomed.

Come and join us!
