Between 2007 and 2009 Waikato DHB was provided a Nutrition Fund by the Ministry of Health to support school and early childhood education centres initiatives aimed at improving healthy eating and nutrition.

Waikato DHB undertook five rounds of the Nutrition Fund and allocated financial support to 58 projects across the district, involving 71 schools and 24 early childhood centres.

There will be no further rounds of the Nutrition Fund.

HEHA is looking to achieve more of a balance between increasing physical activity and improving nutrition.

Current Nutrition Fund projects will continue to be funded to completion and the HEHA Education Group will continue to monitor progress and provide advice and support.
