Obstetrics

The obstetric service provides facilities and specialist care for local and regional patients requiring elective or emergency treatments. We provide secondary services for the Waikato DHB region and tertiary for the Midland region with more than 3700 deliveries per annum.

Our recently refurbished delivery suite has seven birthing rooms, an operating theatre, a three-bedded recovery area and a two-bedded high dependency unit. A Women’s Assessment Unit (WAU) of 12 beds is adjacent to the delivery suite and provides services to acute and semi-urgent pregnant women of greater than 20 weeks gestation.


There is a 16-bedded antenatal ward and a 24-bedded post-natal ward.
