Community based health services

The community based health services provide health services in a community setting and include:

• Family Health Teams 
• School Dental Service
  
• Dietitians
• District nursing
• Ear nurses
• Occupational therapists
• Physiotherapists
• Public health nurses
• Social workers
• Vision and hearing technicians

This includes the management, assessment, support and education of patients and their families/whanau and caregivers. Both the district nurses and the multi-disciplinary teams work from community bases as part of the Waikato DHB’s Family Health Teams.

Community based health services also encompass:

• Mental Health & Addictions Service
• screening services
• sexual health.
