Orientation
There is a structured orientation both to the Waikato DHB NETP programme and to the RN graduates clinical placement.

| PreceptorshipEach RN graduate has an assigned preceptor/s who
has completed an approved training programme. Preceptors, and other
members of the clinical team, work alongside RN graduates and support
goal setting and opportunities for reflection.
RN graduates are supported by the NETP programme coordinator, NETP nurse educator and the nurse educators on the wards.
EducationOur
programme offers a formal, structured and supported learning programme.
During the year RN graduates complete one 30 credit level 8 module
toward a post graduate certificate. This module along with further NETP
study days synthesises knowledge gained within a BN degree and has a
clear link to clinical practice. There are 12 designated education days
over the programme.
RN graduates appointed to the rural campuses
of Thames, Tokoroa, Te Kuiti, and Taumarunui have the same programme
and will attend the Waikato campus for their study days.
Professional development and recognition programme (PDRP)RN
graduates are required to submit a portfolio at a competent RN level
prior to exiting the programme, as per Waikato DHB PDRP. The
professional resources of the Waikato DHB Professional Development Unit
assist you to complete this portfolio. Nurses who participate in the
PDRP are exempt from audit by Nursing Council.
