Waikato Hospital

Waikato Hospital is a 600 bed regional base hospital first established in 1886 which makes it more than 125 years old. Read more about Waikato Hospital's history and our people.

It is part of Health Waikato, the provider arm of the Waikato District Health Board, which provides a network of integrated hospital and community based health services to a population of 373,200.

Through Waikato Hospital, specialist diagnostic treatment services are offered to the whole of the Midland region - a population of 850,000 - and beyond.

Waikato Hospital strives to be a caring and progressive tertiary hospital providing first class specialty services responsive to the health needs of the people of the Waikato and Midland region.

As part of this specialty service, education and experience is provided for medical, nursing and allied health staff. Participation by patients in these teaching programmes is optional.
