Catalyst for Productive Services
Lean methodologies eliminate waste and lend themselves to protecting volume delivery at a lower overall cost, Waikato DHB chief financial officer Maureen Chrystall told the Health Waikato Advisory Committee today.
Mrs Chrystall presented a report on the DHB's approach to delivering savings by minimising waste and variation.
She outlined three key points:
- outlined the approach to be taken
- outlined the methodology using Lean principles
- set out the governance structure to ensure the programme delivers on its stated aim.
Mrs Chrystall said she was committed to the project and knows it would work given her own experience when she worked in a Toyota company several years ago.
"There are no silver bullets and this will not be easy," she said.
"There will be difficult decisions. The process needs to be clear and fair."
