Tour, planting ceremony in new Emergency DepartmentMedia are invited to tour Waikato Hospital’s new Emergency Department tomorrow morning and view a special rose planting ceremony in association with St John.St John gifted Waikato District Health Board the white rose, called Luminis (Latin word meaning light), last year in recognition of the DHB’s association and ongoing support Since then, Health Waikato chief operating officer Jan Adams has cared for the rose, pending its move to Waikato Hospital's new Emergency Department tomorrow. Staff chose to plant the rose in the Emergency Department’s courtyard to mark the close relationship they have with St John. Bred by Matthews Nurseries in Whanganui, the hybrid rose tinged with cream is blooming well at its temporary home with Mrs Adams. A limited number of the plants will go on sale to commemorate St John’s 125th anniversary; proceeds will go to the St John Eye Hospital in Jerusalem and to give thanks to St John supporters.
