Joanne Knight to manage Tokoroa and Taumarunui hospitals

Tokoroa Hospital & Family Health Team manager Joanne Knight will take Taumarunui Hospital & Family Health Joanne KnightTeam under her wing at the end of this month.

Health Waikato’s Rural and Community Services group manager Jill Dibble said Mrs Knight was a natural choice for the extended management role for the hospitals and family health teams.

“In her current role as manager for our Tokoroa team, she continues to take the services provided from strength to strength.

“I know she will provide the same excellent management for the northern Ruapehu community as well.”

Mrs Knight brings a wealth of knowledge and experience for previous roles that have included district nursing, clinical nurse leader, quality coordinator, referral centre manager and rural hospital and family health team manager.

Previous Taumarunui Hospital manager Tina Baker recently resigned from her position, presenting Health Waikato with the opportunity to review the management structure for the southern Waikato and King Country areas.

“As the health sector continues to move towards an integrated approach to service development and delivery it was essential that we ensured structures, systems and processes that support this were explored and developed," said Mrs Dibble.

“We believe we are now able create a management structure that will ensure consistency and alignment of responsibilities that will support future development of rural health services.”
