DHB realigns project team

Waikato District Health Board’s Development and Support Unit moved reporting lines this week in an effort to reduce duplication and maximise efficiency.

The unit now reports to Planning and Funding general manager Brett Paradine who said his team have worked alongside the unit on many issues over the years.

"This sometimes worked very well but sometimes there was a risk of duplicating effort or of working at cross purposes.

“We now have a great opportunity to maximise what we can achieve with our joined up effort.”

Mr Paradine said the move was especially important at the moment with a lot of work required to implement primary care business cases.

Unit manager Grant O’Brien said the new alignment was a practical move.

"We have always worked closely with their team to develop and implement new services and I look forward to enhancing this relationship and the new challenges that lay ahead of us.”

The unit, which includes the Healthy Eating Healthy Action (HEHA) programme, was established as a programme management office last year as part of the DHB’s implementation of an internal project management methodology.

Previously the unit reported to chief executive Craig Climo.
