Update for Waikato DHB Vendors on Conficker virus

Waikato DHB has been infected with the CONFICKER Virus, identified as variants A and D. There are five known variants of the virus.

At 10pm yesterday issues were noticed with the system and investigations started.

At 2am the virus was discovered.

Immediately, a fix was implemented to start cleaning the virus off the systems. Unfortunately the virus was spreading faster than the cleaning fix.

All inbound/outbound communications have been cut, including our PACs link to Bay of Plenty DHB.

The latest estimate for recovery is sometime tomorrow morning.

A new ‘strong’ password system will be enforced to help prevent future virus infections.

Vendors should follow the instructions on the following url link:-
