Car vs bike - Turangi

The 47-year-old Blenheim man on the bike is in Waikato Hospital's intensive care unit in an improving condition.

Taupo Rescue Helicopter

This afternoon the Youthtown Rescue Helicopter responded to a car versus bike crash on Tauranga - Taupo bridge on SH 1-North of Turangi. The vehicle  collided with the bike on the bridge and flung the male rider off the bridge and he landed in the river which is a four meter drop. He was treated by St Johns Advanced Paramedics at the scene and flown to Waikato Hospital for further treatment.
