Praise for Waikato from Health Minister The Waikato District Health Board has performed elective surgery on a record number of people in the 2008/09 year, with more than 11,400 patents treated. More elective surgery for Waikato patients - 30 September 2009 Elective Surgery Summary  Health Waikato chief operating officer Jan Adams said the recognition from the minister came only days after the Ministry of Health congratulated us for our excellent result and paid tribute to the hard work undertaken to reach this position. "We also received formal notification of our achievements against the health target for elective services for 2008/2009. We reached achieved status overall, with two quarters reaching outstanding performance. This result reflects the focus on improving elective services," she said.
