Midland MRI launches new era scanner

Midland MRI logoAs part of its ongoing commitment to providing state-of-the-art patient care, Midland MRI has added GE Healthcare’s 3 Tesla DiscoveryTM MR750 MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) system Midland MRI announced today.

MRI is a non-invasive procedure used to visualize the structure and function of the body, relying on a powerful magnetic field to produce detailed images of the body in any plane. The 3T system offers substantial benefits for patients at Midland MRI in need of an MRI, including increased comfort, reduced exam times, and less need for rescanning due to patient movement.

The scanners powerful 3.0T magnet delivers strong whole-body gradients, resulting in fast and highly accurate reproducible scans in high definition, providing physicians the ability to see smaller structures. This powerful technology, coupled with enhanced imaging techniques, helps produce greater quality images.

These technological developments, along with a comprehensive application suite designed for specific clinical areas, ensure the 3T MRI delivers outstanding images in body, musculoskeletal, neurological, vascular, and pediatric imaging.

While MRI offers general improvements over other imaging modalities, such as X-rays, Dr Glenn Coltman notes that not every MRI is alike – and the 3T MRI provides clear advantages to both private and Waikato DHB referred patients.

“The depth of information varies substantially depending upon which MRI system is being used,” Stephen Butler said. “While many healthcare centres offer MRI, there are vast differences in image quality and applications.”

Stephen Butler notes the addition of the new 3T MRI at Midland MRI’s Waikato Hospital site helps the company to continue to provide exceptional care. The new scanner complements Midland MRI’s 1.5T MRI system at Anglesea Clinic.

“The 3T MRI will help simplify exams while improving diagnostic quality,” Dr Coltman said. “The addition of this powerful new imaging tool is part of our ongoing effort to use the very best technology available, making critical imaging processes as confident and comfortable as possible for our patients.”
