Hospital visitors urged to use carpark building on Saturday

Anyone planning to visit Waikato Hospital on Saturday should park in the carpark building and follow the signs to their destination.

Building Programme project manager Brendan Hague said visitors are always encouraged to use the carpark building, but even more so for this Saturday because of work happening at the hospital.

“The northern entrance to the Menzies Building, which is regularly used by visitors parking on the street, will be closed that morning,” Mr Hague said.

“We’ve got contractors working on the hospital’s temporary red corridor so to allow for sufficient space and to ensure the utmost safety of visitors we’re urging everyone to use the carpark building.”

Staff will be at the closed entrance to re-direct anyone who is unsure or unaware.

Construction of the temporary red corridor is part of the pre-construction works for the $118million Waikato Clinical Centre project.

When construction of the clinical centre gets underway next year, the existing red corridor will close because of its close proximity to the construction site.

The temporary red corridor will divert visitors away from the closed area.

It is all of the $300 million Building Programme project currently underway at Waikato Hospital. For more information, visit www.waikatodhb.govt.nz/SCR.
