Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance

26/7/2009

The Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance was called out to Kawhia tonight to the scene of a motorcycle crash on Te Puia Rd.

A man and a woman were riding at night, without helmets, when they failed to successfully navigate a turn. The man lost control of the motorcycle and
crashed into a fence post. The female pillion rider, was thrown from the bike and sustained neck injuries. The man suffered upper back injuries.

Due to the seriousness of the injuries, it was deemed prudent to transport both patients simultaneously; the Air Ambulance is normally configured for
one patient. Both patients were flown to Waikato Hospital in the care of St John Ambulance Paramedics.
