Patient update

Two 48-year-old women, one from Matamata and the other from Te Aroha, are in Waikato Hospital's Emergency Department under assessment following a head-on motorcycle accident on Waipapa Rd near Mangakino this morning.

The Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance transported the Te Aroha woman to Waikato Hospital while the Youthtown Rescue Helicopter brought the Matamata woman about 25 minutes later.

This afternoon the Taupo based Youthtown Trust Rescue Helicopter was called to a motorcycle accident on Waipapa Rd to the north of Mangakino. This accident was attended by the Hamilton based Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance, and the Rotorua based Bay Trust Rescue Helicopter. With the assistance of St John Ambulance paramedics we treated a 48 year old Matamata woman at the scene before flying her to Waikato hospital.

At 12:00pm today the Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance was dispatched to a motorcycle accident on Waipapa Road near Mangakino. Two motorcycles had
collided head-on at a corner.

A 48-year-old Te Aroha woman was treated at the scene for leg and shoulder injuries before being flown to Waikato hospital under the care of St John
paramedics. Rescue Helicopters from Taupo and Rotorua also transported patients to Waikato Hospital.
