Midlands Prostate Cancer Study

The University of Auckland in partnership with the Midland Cancer Network are working together to undertake a Health Research Council funded three year research project, exploring the costs and complications of prostate cancer.

For New Zealand men, prostate cancer is the most commonly registered cancer.

Treatment options in New Zealand vary and there is evidence that treatment for prostate cancer can commonly cause moderate-to-substantial harms.

There is less reliable information about the wider complications, including social and psychological impact. We also do not have a good understanding of the financial costs associated with diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer in New Zealand and who pays.

The project team for the Midlands Prostate Cancer Study are currently looking for two PhD candidates to be involved in phase four of this project.

The candidates, based at the Waikato Clinical School, will be part of an exciting research team of medical, academic and community-based experts specialising in prostate cancer.  Please read the attached position descriptions and forward your CV with a covering letter to Dr Charis Brown: charis.brown@auckland.ac.nz

Please note: These positions will remain open until filled.  Applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand.
