Postgraduate study in public health

Expressions of interest

We are seeking expressions of interest for those who wish to undertake tertiary study with Auckland University of Technology (AUT) in the Midland region.

We are offering papers in 2010 to Midland region (Waikato, Taranaki and Bay of Plenty) residents, which could lead to a postgraduate certificate or diploma in public health.

Initially, we are looking to offer papers in ‘health development and policy’ and ‘programme planning and evaluation’, with social epidemiology a possibility to follow.

These three papers are core subjects for those who may want to go on to any of the programmes below. Each paper involves five contact days. The timing of these days has not yet been determined.

The programme of study is in the postgraduate programme in public health. There are three levels of study in this programme:

  • a postgraduate certificate in public health, which includes completion of the three core papers (health development and policy, social epidemiology, and programme planning and evaluation)

  • the postgraduate diploma in public health that includes three core papers completed in the certificate and three optional papers of a total of 60 points; and

  • the masters of public health, which includes the postgraduate diploma in public health papers and three optional papers (60 points) plus a 60 point dissertation or thesis (120 points).

Do you have any interest in attending these papers if offered in the Midland region (Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Taranaki). Which is your preference?

Which paper would be your first preference? (Health development and policy, social epidemiology or programme planning and evaluation).
